Instead of telling of a perceived who I am or what I do, here is what potential energy sounds like. My hope is that my songs find you and that they reach you with all the pure timing and honesty in which they were created. Maybe… conveniently at the most inconvenient time, like a break down, or a break-up, or just eating breakfast on a break at the break of dawn and you received breaking news that your brakes are gone? Maybe …I hit a note, strike a chord, in the same single moment that you laugh or cry, maybe both, maybe one then the other? Maybe… I write words, a line, a lyric, that another songwriter wished they had thought of it? Maybe…you’re that writer, maybe you already did? Maybe… I create a melody so catchy, so crafty, that even the most scared wallflower taps their feet? Maybe you’re a vessel too, so ear wormed infected days later, wondering if you need it more or less, what makes it worse or better? Maybe …we meet at your favorite venue, Pub, Restaurant, Coffee House, Festival, Record Store, like omg, it’s my favorite, have you had the poutine? Maybe…we connect, exchange gifts, make a trade, like your time for goosebumps, or permission to let go, or cringe worthy humor and ideas like fingers on the chalkboard, but it’s 80% nostalgic, so you like it. Maybe… I make an album so all over the place, that it sounds like a compilation of all your dead heroes combined? Maybe … you’ll be that friend that actually likes my music, that shares it with other friends, dances in the kitchen, and spreads it’s words like gospel or a disease, listener’s choice? Maybe…I then I become the listener, and circle gets the square, and I answer in the form of question ,’’Who is Ernest anyway?’. Could you then be ernest? anyway.…I don’t know ….maybe.
